A compact hand-held instrument for fast and convenient determination of the moisture regain in fibers, yarns and fabrics. The instrument provides for direct and instant test results for 19 of the most commonly used textile materials and blends. For operation the appropriate scale is positioned over the LED array, and the moisture regain of the test specimen is directly indicated on that scale by the illuminated moving indicator of the LED array.
